NILPHAMARI, Jan 16 :
Tea plantation season has begun this month in the country’s northern districts of Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat.
In the meantime a project costing Tk 110 million (11 crore) has been taken by the Ministry of Commerce this year to patronise tea cultivation in these districts.
Officials of Panchagarh Zonal Tea Board said, tea cultivation started in the district in 2000, and so far 679 hectares of land have been brought under tea cultivation. Presently seven tea gardens, 12 small farms and 199 farmers are engaged in tea cultivation in the district.
